Development Plan (1992 – 1996) and the 8 th Higher Development Plan (1997 – 2001). The potentiality and competency of the university will also be studied. Quantitative and qualitative data, after being analyzed, will be used for the Development Plan of the university in the future. The result of the study is total number of new students are lower than the targets 45.42 percent and 9.5 percent in the period of the 7 th and 8 th plan respectively. The graduates production in the 7 th and 8 th plan period is analyzed from the number of graduates that were lower than the targets 24.93 percent and 27.28 percent respectively. Moreover, 35.26 percent of the graduates were employed in the period of the 7 th plan and 67.48 percent in the period of the 8 th plan. This was the result of the economic crisis during the 8 th plan which caused the reduction in employment. In addition KMITNB has founded 8 new organizations in the period of the 7 th plan. In the 8 th plan, there were 3 new organizations founded. The number of officials have raised from similarly during these two periods. Further, it was found that in the 8 th plan, the university could earn more research fund than the 7 th plan period 66.23 percent. It was also found that during the 8 th plan, the university had provided more academic services to the society than in the 7 th plan period 383.86 percent. The increasing number existed in all types of academic service especially testing. The comparison of achievement in the 7 th Higher Education Development Plan and the 8 th Higher Education Development Plan indicates that King Mongkut s Institute of Technology North Bangkok has paid more attention to develop the plan since the 8 th plan period. It could be seen from the greater emphasis placed on the petentiality of the university when the targets were set. However, due to the economics crisis during the early 8 th plan, work performance of the university is much lower than the targets set in some areas.

Learning Styles of College of Industrial Technology Students

Other

The main objectives of the research were to study learning style preferences of the four-year program undergraduate students from College of Industrial Technology as well as to propose the “learning management model” that matched each learning style. The population included 1,077 students enrolling in the 2006 academic year. The inventory adapted from Grasha s and Reicemann s Student Learning Style Scales (GRSLSS) was used to determine learners style preferences including Independent, Avoidance, Collaborative, Dependent, Competitive and Participant approaches. Means and standard deviations were analyzed via package program. The research revealed the favorite learning style of most students from overall majors and academic levels was the Dependent one. Considering academic levels in particular, most of the freshmen revealed their preference on the Participant scheme while the Dependent one was predominantly desired by the sophomores. The juniors generally chose both Collaborative and Participating dimensions whereas the seniors disclosed their favor upon Collaborative Style. In addition, the Avoidant method was revealed to be the least style preference of the population in overall. According to the study, the most outstanding problem came from inadequate attention of learners, particularly those in Style. In addition, the Avoidant method was revealed to be the least style preference of the population in overall. According to the study, the most outstanding problem came from inadequate attention of learners, particularly those in the second, third, and forth year. However, the freshmen informed their most incapability of following their class lectures. According to students suggestions, the combination style of teaching would probably be an ideal approach. In addition, instruction methods provided by the College of Industrial Technology should be pertinent to learning styles together with the characteristics of learners, instructors, instruction media, as well as evaluation processes. Meanwhile existing problems in learning are supposed to be taken into earnest consideration for the utmost benefit of learning proficiency.

The Study of Math Progress with a Fundamental Practicing Module and Additional Exercises via Computer-Assisted Instruction: a Case Study of Engineering Undergraduate Students, College of Industrial Technology*

Other

The research aims to investigate the learning progress from applying the practice module for enhancing basic Math as well as the instruction applying CAI along with traditional class method for the course Engineering Mathematics 1. The sampling population included 4-year undergraduate engineering students from 9 majors in the academic year 2003. From the total 300 students who joined Math improvement program during the summer time, the sampling group of 136 students volunteered to participate in the project. The subjects were tested for their basic knowledge score and achievement score. The progress was indicated by the difference between the former score gained before practice with the module and the achievement score gained after such practice. The correlation between the achievement score and basic score would be analyzed afterwards. The t-test was conducted to compare the two means while their relationship was tested by Pearson s Product Moment. The relationship was presented by a profile line. The data was analyzed by SPSS for Windows 12.0 and the results are as follows: 1. Basic Math scores of the students joining the project were significantly higher than the scores gained before participation (p<.001). 2. The average progress of the sampling population being instructed by traditional class method combining with CAI was 14.39 from the total of 40 points, with 0.656 positive relationship with the basic knowledge score (p<.001), revealing that the progress in Engineering Math 1 could be explained by the method of traditional training in connection with additional Computer Assisted Instruction.
